The University of Winnipeg has earned a STARS Silver rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
The U of W is recognized on multiple fronts, including such initiatives such as Diversity Food Services and the UWSA BikeLab.
“UWinnipeg has taken a comprehensive approach to sustainability, with improvements made in all areas,” said Alana Lajoie-O’Malley, UWinnipeg’s director of campus sustainability.
“From reducing greenhouse gas emissions, to overhauling our waste management practices, we’ve made measurable strides. But there is more work to be done.”
AASHE’s STARS program is the most widely recognized framework in the world for publicly reporting comprehensive information related to a college or university’s sustainability performance. There are more than 650 participants on six continents.
