WINNIPEG — It’s now easier to apply for a liquor permit for social events in Manitoba.
The province has launched a new website, for those hosting weddings and other events where liquor is served, to easily apply for a permit.
“The creation of MyLGA.ca is another example of the government’s commitment to improving service delivery and accessibility for Manitobans, just in time for the holiday season,” said Dave Chomiak, minister responsible for the Liquor and Gaming Control Act.
Until now, you would have had to either visit a retail liquor store of the Liquor and Gaming Authority (LGA) office to apply.
The application process takes about 15 minutes to complete. Return e-mails will confirm the LGA received the application and notify applicants when their permit is issued and ready for pickup at their preferred liquor retail location.
Social occasion permits are required anytime liquor is being brought into a venue to serve or sell, such as at a social, wedding reception, festival or business event.
