Local children’s charities are the beneficiaries of more than $66,000 raised by The Players Cup golf tournament.
The PGA Tour Canada event has raised the funds in Winnipeg since the beginning of the year, which adds to the $400,000 generated for local charities since 2010.
“Our organization is honoured to be affiliated with a first class event like the Players Cup and to be a recipient of the Play Through Foundation,” said Ron Brown, CEO of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg, one of the primary recipients of the funding.
“The level of support provided to us gives us more resources to provide additional opportunities to the children and youth we work with across Winnipeg.”
The SCCY Centre (Specialized Services for Children and Youth) also received $25,000.
The giant cheques were awarded Thursday night at the second annual Plaid Party held at The Norwood Hotel.
The primary charitable partners for the 2016 Players Cup will be announced in the spring.
