Winnipeg Jets head coach Paul Maurice has been named as an assistant coach for Team Europe at the 2016 World Cup of Hockey.
Maurice is a Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., native who was an assistant coach for Canada at the 2014 world championships. He joins already appointed Team Europe head coach Ralph Krueger, along with Team Europe general manager Miroslav Satan and president/team leader Franz Reindl.
Eight teams — Canada, United States, Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Team North America and Team Europe — compete in a two group round robin format, followed by a four-team knockout stage
The World Cup of Hockey is September 17 to October 1, 2016 in Toronto.
