WINNIPEG — Two newly-named co-captains will be at the helm of the Manitoba Bison men’s basketball team tonight as the squad hits the court for their home opener.

Forward Wyatt Anders and guard Amarjit (AJ) Basi will lead Manitoba for the 2015-16 Canada West season.

“Wyatt is a returning captain and one of the best leaders in my time here at Manitoba,” said head coach Kirby Schepp.

“It is great to have him back and be a big part on and off the court. AJ was a leading scorer last year and has matured as a player and person in his fourth year at U of M. He is ready to take the next step as one of the next elite players in Canada West.”

The Bisons split two games on the road against the Saskatchewan Huskies last weekend to open the season.

Manitoba hosts the Calgary Dinos (2-0) tonight at 8 p.m. and Saturday at 6 p.m. at Investors Group Athletic Centre. The women play at 6 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
