The annual Tower for Toys campaign kicks off today at The Forks, aiming to bring in thousands of donations for children this Christmas season.

“Over the past 15 years, The Forks Market Merchants’ Association has helped collected well over $150,000 in toys and cash for the Christmas Cheer Board,” said Joyce Gittins, chair of the campaign.

“We are overwhelmed with the response of Winnipeggers and their desire to help support others. It’s our hope that we can help make Christmas a little merrier for Winnipeg families.”

Toys can be dropped off inside The Forks Market in the north aisle beside Tall Grass Prairie Bread Co. Donations will be accepted November 19 through to December 19.

Those with a Forks North Portage parking violation can also have their ticket waived by bringing in a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more to the parking office at 259-393 Portage Avenue.

All donations will be delivered to the Christmas Cheer Board in time for Christmas.
