Two Injured in Failed Armoured Truck Robbery in Winnipeg

Winnipeg Police CrestTwo men are in hospital after a failed robbery attempt of a GardaWorld armoured truck in Winnipeg early Friday.

Police say a man attempted to rob two armoured guards at the TD Canada Trust branch in the area of Burrows Avenue and Keewatin Street at around 12:45 a.m.

During the attempt, one of the guards fired his gun, striking the suspect. One of the guards was also injured in the incident.

The suspect used a large machete in his attempt to make off with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“The safety of our employees and clients is our first priority and we remain vigilant in protecting their security and of the public during this busy holiday season,” the company said in a statement.

One person was sent to hospital in stable condition, while the other is listed in critical.

The suspect was arrested and remains in police custody.
