The Winnipeg Art Gallery’s planned Inuit Art Centre has received a $1 million donation.
BMO Financial Group made the contribution on Tuesday, making it the project’s largest private donation to date.
“Building on the long-standing relationship between BMO and the WAG, the Inuit Art Centre will inspire Canadians with this vibrant culture and art form like never before,” said Dr. Stephen Borys, WAG director and CEO.
Once complete, the centre will house the WAG’s extensive Inuit art collection, which boasts more than 13,000 pieces. It will also be home to the nationally recognized studio art and learning program.
