An increase in the number of outlaw motorcycle gangs in the province this weekend has both Winnipeg police and RCMP on high alert.

The motorcyclists are expected to be in and around the RM of Rosser and Winnipeg city limits today and Saturday.

“Our presence will be felt, the RCMP and its policing partners will be out in force and visible throughout the weekend to ensure public safety and to enforce the law,” said Len Del Pino, RCMP superintendent of federal policing.

“Manitobans can be assured that appropriate resources are in place to maintain order.”

Police will be closely monitoring activities and events surrounding the gatherings.

Motorists travelling on the west and north Perimeter Highway may notice an increased police presence and are reminded to slow down and move over for any police vehicle that is conducting traffic enforcement.

RCMP will be providing updates via Twitter (@rcmpmb) throughout the weekend.
