The Winnipeg police festive season checkstop program has resulted in 12 impaired driving charges in its first week.
Police stopped 882 vehicles between December 1-10, and administered 51 roadside breath tests.
Nine drivers had their licenses suspended for 72 hours, while 50 traffic-related tickets were issued. There was one drug-related arrest.
Police and Manitoba RCMP will have an increased presence on the roadways between now and New Year’s Eve.
