12 Impaired Driving Charges Laid in First Week of Checkstops

Winnipeg Police CrestThe Winnipeg police festive season checkstop program has resulted in 12 impaired driving charges in its first week.

Police stopped 882 vehicles between December 1-10, and administered 51 roadside breath tests.

Nine drivers had their licenses suspended for 72 hours, while 50 traffic-related tickets were issued. There was one drug-related arrest.

Police and Manitoba RCMP will have an increased presence on the roadways between now and New Year’s Eve.
