The Assiniboine Park Conservancy has launched the inaugural Polar Bear Run this winter, set to take place February 28, 2016 at Assiniboine Park.

The 10 km race and 5 km run will loop through the park, with an accompanying 1.5 km walk or skate.

“This event offers a variety of activity levels and is perfect for everyone from the serious runner to the entire family,” said Shawna Bell, manager of community engagement and partnerships at the APC.

“We’re very excited to see the community out and enjoying the park in the winter, while supporting a great cause at the same time.”

All proceeds from the Polar Bear Run support the Assiniboine Park Zoo’s Polar Bear Rescue Team.

Registration is now open and can be completed online or by visiting a local Running Room store. Early bird pricing is in effect until December 31, 2015.
