Police Seeking Suspects in Violent Carjacking

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police are looking for two men after a violent carjacking and attempted robbery.

Police say a man was driving northbound on Home Street December 18 when a southbound vehicle blocked his way. Two people got out of the vehicle and began assaulting the driver. He was able to run away, but one of the suspects took off with his car, while the other got away in another vehicle.

Police believe the same two people are responsible for an attempted purse robbery a short time later near Portage Avenue and Burnell Street. A bystander intervened and the victim was able to break free with her belongings.

The suspect vehicle is described as a dark coloured SUV or van.

The suspects are described as:

  • Aboriginal in appearance, 5’5” tall with a medium build, medium length black hair and a light moustache.
  • Aboriginal in appearance, early 20s, approximately 5’8” tall with a skinny build, black medium length hair and was clean shaven.
