WINNIPEG — Operation Red Nose provided 3,949 rides to people over the holiday season with the help of 2,204 volunteers.
The free service is operated annually to give revellers another alternative option to drinking and driving.
“Thanks to the program’s dedicated sponsors, hosts and volunteers, thousands and thousands of Manitobans have arrived home safely after their holiday gatherings,” said Judy Murphy, president and CEO of Safety Services Manitoba.
“SSM is extremely proud to be part of the program’s success, helping to make Manitoba the safest province to live and work.”
A three-person volunteer driving team picks up guests and drives them home safely in their own vehicle. Donations are accepted and go to support Manitoba youth sports organizations.
