Police Chopper Assists in Arrest of Selkirk Man in High Speed Chase

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police utilized Air 1 on Sunday night after a man pulled over evaded officers as they approached his vehicle.

The incident began at around 10:50 p.m. when police stopped the suspicious vehicle in the area of Henderson Highway near Neil Avenue.

As the officer exited the cruiser and approached, the driver took off at a high rate of speed northbound on Henderson Highway.

Air 1 was called in and spotted the vehicle travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of Highway 59 in excess of 160 km/h.

The suspect was eventually stopped and arrested near Oasis Road and Highway 59.

Bryon Wayne Frost, 29, of Selkirk has been charged with flight from police, failing to comply with a probation order and driving while disqualified.

He remains in custody.
