Winnipeg Transit Code of Conduct

A new code of conduct will be launched on Monday to improve the safety and security on Winnipeg Transit buses.

New decals and signage will begin appearing on buses, at transit stations and at service centres, reminding riders of the consequences of threatening or assaulting transit operators.

“The goal of this public education campaign is to improve the safety and security of Transit employees and customers,” said Dave Wardrop, director of Winnipeg Transit.

Wardrop says the new initiative comes after working with the Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1505.

The code of conduct was finalized in December to encourage appropriate behaviour and conduct while using transit services.
