Man Shoots at Police After Kenaston Gas Bar Robbery

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have arrested a man after they say he fired a gun at officers attempting to pull him over after a robbery at a Kenaston Boulevard gas station early Saturday morning.

A female attendant of the business was confronted at around 3:40 a.m. in the 1700 block of Kenaston and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect concealed his identity in the robbery and then fired his gun before fleeing in a vehicle. No one was injured.

Police spotted the vehicle in the area of Regent Avenue West and Stapon Road at around 4:10 a.m., where the suspect fled at high speeds.

The man fired his gun in the direction of officers, where they exchanged fired.

The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of Springfield Road and a dead end, west of Lagimodiere Boulevard, where police took the man into custody.

Anthony Joseph Raposo, 51, of Winnipeg is facing numerous charges as a result.

The homicide unit and major crimes unit are investigating, as well as the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba.
