Man Charged After Woman Stabbed on Dufferin Avenue

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have charged a 50-year-old man after he allegedly stabbed a woman on Tuesday night.

Police were called to the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue just before midnight, where they say the victim had been socializing in a home when an altercation broke out. A man grabbed a weapon and stabbed the victim, police say. A second woman received minor injuries while trying to intervene.

The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition.

James Ernest Bump of Winnipeg was arrested at the scene. He has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, robbery, and assault with a weapon.

Bump remains in custody.
