The largest outdoor 3-on-3 ball hockey tournament in western Canada has its sights set to raise $75,000 this year.

Le Classique runs February 5-6 at Whittier Park in St. Boniface and is the largest fundraiser of the year for the Canadian CMV Foundation (Congenital Cytomegalovirus).

“Le Classique is really what started it all for our wonderful foundation. When Marc Foidart and I started this event four plus years ago, we knew we wanted to host a community event, but at the same time we knew we wanted to raise money for CMV research,” said Rob Tétrault, chair of the foundation.

Moving to the grounds of Festival du Voyageur has shown how the event has grown over the years. It will offer multiple divisions this year, including novice, competitive, corporate, women’s and 50+.

Organizers will host a Manitoba social on the Friday night and will offer children’s activities during the day Saturday.

Teams can register at leclassique.ca.
