Manitoba Liberal leader Rana Bokhari (HANDOUT)
Manitoba Liberals would remove the PST from salon services over $50 if elected in April.
Leader Rana Bokhari says the tax targets women and is harmful to the province’s economy. PST is already exempt from salon services under $50.
“This is one of the most blatant tax grabs on services used by women ever initiated by a government and under the Manitoba Liberals this injustice will be corrected,” Bokhari said.
“Paying more for a cut and colour than a basic haircut is simply wrong.”
The cost of removing the PST on such services would be about $7 million annually.
