Winnipeg police are investigating after a woman died of injuries in an assault in the 500 block of Stella Avenue.
Officers were called to a residence at around 5 a.m. Saturday and found the victim. She was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died.
The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Mavis Ducharme.
Police say two two men entered the victim’s house and assaulted her and another man. Ducharme was able to make it to a nearby residence, but was chased by the suspects and assaulted again.
Kashtin Flett, 23, of Winnipeg has been charged with second-degree murder, while Nikina Houle, 23, has been charged with manslaughter. Both suspects are from Winnipeg and also face break and enter and assault charges.
They both remain in custody.
