Retired NFL defensive end and former Manitoba Bison football player Israel “Izzy” Idonije is being honoured this year at the annual Jerseys and Jeans Scholarship dinner.

The Bisons football alumni event on March 12, 2016 is a fundraiser to support the University of Manitoba Bison football team and their student-athletes.

“This is the first time in history of the Bison football program that we literally are in a position to honour a player that represents the best of Bison Football,” said Bison football head coach Brian Dobie.

“Izzy had an 11-year career starting with Cleveland to Chicago and Detroit and he is coming back to be honoured for all the great achievements on and off the field.”

TSN anchor Derek Taylor will MC the evening, with special guest Anthony Adams of the Chicago Bears (2007-11).

Tickets are $175 each or $1,400 for a corporate table of 8. The dinner will be held in the multi-purpose room of University Centre beginning at 7 p.m. Cocktails start at 6 p.m.
