Winnipeg appears set to host its first outdoor hockey game at Investors Group Field.
Sportsnet reported Saturday night that the Winnipeg Jets will host an NHL Heritage Classic game in October against the Edmonton Oilers.
The original plan was to have Winnipeg host a game last season, but a conflict with Grey Cup planning pushed that date back.
Neither the Jets or NHL have officially made an announcement surrounding an outdoor game.
“We haven’t settled on a date that we’re ready to announce,” NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said in early January. “We do owe Winnipeg a game, and we would’ve been there last year but the Grey Cup and some complications.”
