The Winnipeg Blue Bombers will lead a new Break the Silence on Violence Against Women program on Tuesday.
Players Matt Bucknor and Matthias Goossen will lead a discussion with 400 students at Elmwood High School.
“For years, violence against women has been an issue championed by women,” said Hannah Rose Pratt, manager of community relations for the Winnipeg Football Club. “We’re so proud of our players who stepped up as ambassadors for this program in our community.”
The Bombers have committed to lead 120 presentations over three years surrounding the issue, in partnership with Status of Women Canada and Manitoba Status of Women.
More than 16 assemblies and targeted workshops for high school aged youth in Winnipeg are scheduled for the spring of this year.
