Hockey star Cassie Campbell-Pascall will lead a group of young aspiring female players in Brandon on Sunday.
The Olympian and world champion is lacing up for the 5th annual Scotiabank Girls HockeyFest at Westman Communications Group Place.
The event is no cost to girls aged seven to 12 and provides both on and off-ice training sessions. The day will also include a community outreach component and a keynote address from Campbell-Pascall on the importance of teamwork and giving back to the community.
“I know first-hand how valuable it is to receive support from the hockey community as a young athlete,” she said.
“It helped me get to where I am today, and I’m thrilled to be able to give back through Girls HockeyFest — and to celebrate Canada’s game with these girls who share my love for the game.”
HockeyFest runs from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on February 28. About 150 young players are expected to attend.
