Two Men Facing Weapons, Drugs Charges

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have laid charges against two men after traffic stops on Tuesday.

Working as part of an ongoing investigation, the street crime unit pulled over a vehicle on Nairn Avenue at around 9:23 p.m. Officers found a firearm, ammunition, a hatchet, and a collapsible baton.

Eric Schinkel, 28, of Steinbach, was arrested and charged with several firearm-related offences.

A second traffic stop at around 10:44 p.m. was conducted at the intersection of Langevin Street and Provencher Boulevard.

Jeffrey Gibson, 42, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and methamphetamine.

Both men remain in custody.
