A Manitoba judge has been placed on administrative leave after being charged with impaired driving.

Provincial court Judge Michel Chartier was charged by Carberry RCMP on Sunday with also having a blood alcohol level over .08.

Chartier was released on a promise to appear in Brandon court on March 24.

In a statement, Chief Judge Ken Champagne said there will be no further comment on the charges.
