Woman Charged in Fatal Crash with Stolen Car

Winnipeg Police CrestA 22-year-old Winnipeg woman is facing charges after a fatal crash in a stolen vehicle killed a 71-year-old man last month.

Summer Skye Patchinose, 22, was arrested on Monday for her alleged involvement.

The crash happened February 27 at around 1:30 a.m. when a stolen Honda Civic hit a Buick Regal eastbound on Jarvis Avenue attempting to turn north onto McPhillips Street. The 71-year-old man in the other vehicle succumbed to his injuries in hospital.

The Civic had been stolen about 20 minutes prior from the area of Sherbrook Street and Ross Avenue.

The driver of the stolen vehicle was also taken to hospital in critical condition.

Patchinose has been charged with criminal negligence causing death, driving while impaired causing death, dangerous driving causing death, theft of a motor vehicle, and driving while disqualified.

She remains in custody.
