Noonan, Higgins Named Wesmen Athletes of the Year

University of Winnipeg WesmenUniversity of Winnipeg Wesmen women’s basketball player Megan Noonan and men’s wrestler Finn Higgins have been named the Wesmen male and female athletes of the year.

The announcement was made Thursday evening during the annual Wesmen Athletic Awards Banquet at the Radisson Hotel.

Noonan, a team co-captain, completed her fourth season in the basketball program and finished among the league leaders in both offensive and defensive categories during the 2015-2016 Canada West regular season.

Higgins is the athlete of the year for the second consecutive season. He won gold in the 100 kg weight class as a national champion.

Academic All-Canadians
34 student athletes were recognized as Academic All-Canadians for the 2014-2015 academic year. In order to gain this status a student athlete must finish the academic year with an overall grade point average of 3.5 or better. Those recognized is as follows:
