A central location for all things provincial election-related is helping Manitobans to make an informed decision at the polls on April 19.

ManitobaElection.ca is a project by Open Democracy Manitoba and features constituency maps, a calendar of election-related events, recordings of election debates, maps of past election results, and educational resources on legislative politics in Manitoba.

“Voters from all over Manitoba are visiting ManitobaElection.ca to inform their vote,” said Kyle Geske, one of the site’s creators. “We’ve got everything they need to prepare for the upcoming election — all in one place.”

Voters can research their MLA candidates based on a convenient ward map, and are instantly linked to social media profiles and websites to find further information.

Andrew Burton and Ken Harasym are also behind the site, which they say is meant to increase community interest in democracy. The trio also maintains a similar site, WinnipegElection.ca for municipal elections.

Open Democracy Manitoba strives to educate voters, empowering them to understand the roles, issues, and visions of our representatives in order to have a more accountable and respectful democracy.
