The body of an 11-year-old was pulled from a spillway near the RM of Woodlands Wednesday morning.
The girl had been playing with friends near the spillway at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday when she and her younger sister fell in. Other children were able to pull the younger girl to safety, but the 11-year-old never resurfaced.
RCMP, members of the local fire department, Office of the Fire Commissioner, Portage Water Rescue, and local volunteers responded, but were unable to find the missing girl.
Emergency personnel remained overnight and found her body at around 7:30 a.m.
No further details are being released.
