You don’t have to travel to the west coast to get a taste of what it has to offer.
California wines are right here in Manitoba for the annual Winnipeg Wine Festival. This year’s theme region features more than 149 wines from 40 wineries.
“California is thrilled to be the theme region of the 2016 Winnipeg Wine Festival. As the most popular import wine category in the province, our vintners and representatives look forward to sharing familiar favourites, as well as some exciting new wines,” said Rick Slomka, Canadian director of the California Wine Institute.
The 15th annual event is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Manitoba.
Over 9,000 people are expected to attend the educational seminar and the public tasting evenings on Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the Saturday matinee tasting from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The premiere event is the gala dinner and auction at the RBC Convention Centre with about 550 people expected to attend.
