Old car batteries, used motor oil and old tires are all things many households may have laying around. And spring is the perfect time of year to get rid of them.
To coincide with Earth Day, CAA Manitoba is hosting a roundup of those materials on Sunday at FortWhyte Alive.
“The weather is warming up and for many Manitobans that means it’s time to clean out their home and garage. Recycling used automotive products and household batteries is a great way to spring clean and go green,” said Erika Miller, public and media relations specialist for CAA Manitoba.
“Anyone who drops material off at one of our recycling locations this weekend is eligible to receive a free battery test to see what shape their car is in before road trip season starts.”
Garages accepting used tires, motor oil, and car and household batteries on behalf of CAA Manitoba from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday are:
- Degagne Motors — 366 Marion St.
- Fountain Tire — 3020 Portage Ave.
- Fountain Tire — 827 Regent Ave. W.
- Fountain Tire — 2716 Pembina Hwy.
FortWhyte’s free Earth Day event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
