RCMP Crest LogoA 25-year-old man was killed Saturday night after walking into traffic on the Trans-Canada Highway east of Brandon.

RCMP say the semi-tractor trailer hit the man at the junction of Highway 1 and PR 110 just before midnight.

Two men, both 25 and believed to be intoxicated, were standing on the side of the highway when one of them walked into the lane of the eastbound semi.

Witness accounts say the 37-year-old man driving the truck tried to avoid the collision before the victim was stuck.

The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other man with him wasn’t injured.

Police are continuing to investigate.
