Your Manitoba Hydro bill will go up this summer after the utility received approval for a rate increase.

The Public Utilities Board gave Hydro the green light for a 3.36 percent increase effective August 1.

That works out to be approximately $2.83 more for the typical residential customer without electric heating, using an average of 1,000 kilowatt hours per month. Customers with electric heating, using an average of 2,000 kilowatt hours per month, will see a monthly increase of approximately $5.41.

“We are pleased with today’s order issued by the PUB,” said Manitoba Hydro president and CEO Kelvin Shepherd. “The PUB continues to recognize the need for moderate, predictable annual rate increases over a number of years.”
