Winnipeg police are investigating two recent fires as being acts of arson.
The first fire broke out in a detached garage Wednesday morning in the 500 block of Oakland Avenue in North Kildonan.
Police believe the fire started when a discarded sofa was set on fire at the rear of the garage. The fire spread to the garage, vehicles and residence.
Three people fled with injuries and damage is estimated at $400,000.
On Thursday morning, fire crews were called to a residence in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue West at around 6 a.m.
Fire began in a garage and spread to the main dwelling and neighbouring homes. Two vehicles were also damaged and considered a total loss.
Two residents were taken to hospital in stable condition.
Three occupants fled without injury and damage is estimated at $500,000.
No arrest have been made in either fire and the arson unit continues to investigate.
