Iconic Winnipeg steakhouse The Round Table is extending its run for an additional three weeks after announcing it would close on May 14.
“As soon as we told people we were closing, the phone started ringing and the place has been busy,” said owner Kristjan Kristjansson.
“We even had one gentleman fly in from California just to enjoy our prime rib one last time. We’ve been very touched by the response.”
After 42 years, the Pembina Highway restaurant and Brogue Gastropub will remain open until June 3.
Kristjansson will re-open a restaurant with a new concept after a complete overhaul later this year.
Memorabilia from The Round Table is up for auction online, with a live auction set for 11 a.m. on June 4. A portion of proceeds from the online and live auctions will be donated to #keepingkenziclose, a charity set up by Kristjansson’s business partner to raise funds for Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
