Winnipeg police brought in the Air 1 helicopter early Sunday morning to help track down an erratic drunk driver.
Police spotted a GMC Terrain driving in an unsafe matter at around 1 a.m. in the area of Osborne Street and Granite Way.
The driver failed to stop when officers attempted to pull him over, rather picking up speed and driving northbound onto Edmonton Street from Broadway. Police say the vehicle eventually reached speeds of up to 110 km/h.
The driver tried to evade police in the first 100 block of Clonard Avenue by parking the vehicle and taking off on foot. Air 1 direct ground units to his location and was arrested moments later.
A 26-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting a peace officer, driving without a licence and possession of cocaine. He remains in custody.
