A 26-year-old man is recovering in hospital after he was robbed and assaulted while riding his bike across a Winnipeg bridge on Sunday.
Police say the man was driving across the Slaw Rebchuk Bridge (Salter Street) at around 4:20 a.m. when he came across a man with multiple weapons.
The cyclist was attacked for his property when he refused to turn it over. He was assaulted and left unconscious before a witness called police. The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded.
Eugene Junior Mason, 19, of Winnipeg was located in the area of Notre Dame Avenue and Balmoral Street.
He has been charged with aggravated assault, including several weapon-related offences, and remains in custody.
