Winnipeg Police CrestPolice have made arrests for two separate incidents of robbery leading in police pursuits Thursday evening.

The first pursuit happened at 6:15 p.m. outside CF Polo Park Shopping Centre, where police responded to reports of a man with a gun.

The suspect was confronted by security personnel in the mall when he pulled out a handgun. He then fled on foot to a parking lot on Jack Blick Avenue, confronted a female driver and forced her from her vehicle before speeding off.

Police located the vehicle on Portage Avenue and after a short pursuit, were able to stop the suspect on Portage Avenue and Goulding Street. No one was injured.

Police arrested 28-year-old Randy Ryle. He faces 16 charges, including robbery with a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting arrest, and driving dangerously.

The second pursuit occurred at 7:20 p.m. in the 100 block of St. Anne’s Road.

Police responded to a report of commercial robbery. The suspect approached two employees, stole a small amount of cash and then fled in a vehicle.

Responding vehicles found the suspect in various locations, but due to the high rate of speed and hazardous driving they were forced to abort the pursuit.

The suspect vehicle was located at 8:40 p.m. by Bishop Grandin Boulevard and St. Mary’s Road, where police were able to contain the vehicle.

Alexander Jovanovich, 31, was arrested at the scene and has been charged with a variety of offences such as robbery, flight from peace officer and dangerous driving.
