Winnipeg police logoPolice have identified two men allegedly involved in the shooting of 29-year-old George Prieston on Thursday.

Raymond Ducharme, 25, and Shawn Poitra, 25, of Winnipeg have been arrested and face charges of first degree murder, fail to comply with recognizance and cruelty to animals.

Both have been detained in custody. Investigators are still searching for the weapon used, which witnesses described to police as a military-style assault rifle with a high-capacity magazine.

Officers responded to the 600 block of Wellington Avenue after receiving reports a man was shot in his home.

Prieston’s dog was also shot and later had to be put down due to its injuries, police say.
