A 35-year-old man has been charged after getting behind the wheel of an empty school bus and trying to ram a RCMP cruiser.
Police say it happened Thursday at around 9 p.m. in La Riviere, Manitoba. A 911 call was placed, reporting an intoxicated man had left a home in the bus.
An officer soon spotted the bus and attempted to pull it over. The driver stopped on the wrong side of the road and then reversed towards the cruiser. The officer was able to avoid the collision, but not before the driver attempted to flee and hit the cruiser a second time unsuccessfully.
The driver eventually stopped and was arrested upon exiting the bus.
Joshua Pharaoh of La Riviere has been fined and charged with five offences, including impaired and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, and assault on a police officer.
He remains in custody and will appear in Portage la Prairie court on Monday.
