WINNIPEG — Nearly 1,400 motorcycle riders departed for Gimli under cloudy skies on Saturday in the 8th annual Manitoba Motorcycle Ride for Dad.
The yearly ride raises funds and support in the fight against prostate cancer. To date, more than $1.5 million has been raised for the cause, staying right here in Manitoba for prostate cancer research and education.
“This year we’re currently leading the country with just a few more Ride for Dads to come in other cities,” said co-chair Maurice Sabourin.
“It is very gratifying to see the support Manitobans provide the Ride for Dad including our media partners who spread the word about the importance of early detection of prostate cancer.”
The ride left Earls Polo Park to Assiniboia Downs, then north to Selkirk, Gimli and back. The event culminated with a wind-up celebration at Cowboys, Canad Inns Windsor Park.
