It’s a new way the Winnipeg Blue Bombers plan to pay tribute to the legends who have suited up in Blue and Gold over the years.
The Ring of Honour will be unveiled at the team’s home opener June 24 with Chris Walby being the first player selected.
Walby has been inducted into both the Blue Bombers and Canadian Football Hall of Fame and was a nine-time CFL All-Star, a three-time Grey Cup champion, and was twice named the CFL Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman.
“I just feel lucky to have played my career in this town, to play 16 years here, be a part of three Grey Cup teams and to have suited up with a lot of great players,” Walby said.
Fans can vote online for who the other first nine inductees should be.
The Blue Bombers Ring of Honour will be added just above the suites on the 200 level facing out into the stadium.
The Bombers host Montreal at their home opener June 24 at Investors Group Field.
