Hundreds are expected to hit the pavement Tuesday at The Forks for the Alzheimer Society’s annual Walk for Alzheimer’s.
Formerly called the Memory Walk, Alzheimer societies across Canada will embrace the new nation-wide event.
“It’s still the annual walk that people are accustomed to, but it’s being re-energized,” said Wendy Schettler, CEO of the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
Entertainment and registration begins at 5 p.m., with the walk kicking off at 6 p.m.
The Alzheimer Society provides a network of support and education for people living with dementia, their families and their caregivers.
“This year’s Walk is extra special for my family team; my dad has dementia and the Walk falls on his birthday. We will all be there celebrating in his honour,” added Schettler.
