WINNIPEG — Sunday’s Manitoba Marathon is expected to create traffic congestion for motorists along the new reversed route, particularly in the Fort Rouge area.

From 8 a.m. until noon, access from Pembina Highway onto Jubilee Avenue will be prohibited for both northbound and southbound Pembina Highway traffic. Westbound traffic on Jubilee Avenue will be able to access southbound Pembina Highway, but not northbound Pembina Highway.

From 8:30 a.m. to noon, the intersecting roads along Harrow Street, such as Corydon Avenue, Grant Avenue, and Taylor Avenue will also be impacted. Traffic will be maintained at these intersections by police, however traffic will only be allowed to cross when gaps between runners allow.

The city suggests motorists detour via Kenaston Boulevard instead of using Pembina Highway.

In addition, sections of Waverley Street will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. on Monday, June 20.

Waverley between Taylor Avenue and Wilkes Avenue will be completely closed to northbound and southbound traffic for routine maintenance of a CN railway crossing.
Northbound Waverley Street, from Mathers Avenue to Grant Avenue will also be completely closed to all vehicles.
