Missouri Man Presumed Drowned in Manitoba Lake

RCMP Logo VehicleA Missouri man is presumed drowned after he was overcome by the current of Kitchi Lake on Saturday.

Two fishers were ashore to clean fish when their boat became unsecured and started to drift away. RCMP say one of them, a 63-year-old man, attempted to retrieve the boat but went under.

The incident happened at around 10 p.m. approximately 80 kilometres northwest of Little Grand Rapids.

RCMP attended on Sunday morning and were to search for the body on Monday with help of the Underwater Recovery Team.

The investigation is continuing.
