Winnipeg police have located two missing children and arrested their mother.
Montana Giesbrecht, 11, and Josh Giesbrecht, 9, were last seen on Monday. A Canada-wide arrest warrant was then issued for their mother, Sandra Giesbrecht, on Wednesday.
The children disappeared after getting into a car in the St. James area of the city.
All three were found safe in Winnipeg on Friday evening after police were led to the area of Amherst Street, where they say Sandra was driving a Ford Expedition. Officers attempted to safely stop the vehicle, but a brief pursuit occurred.
Giesbrecht and her children abandoned the SUV behind the 100 block of Deer Lodge Place and fled on foot at around 5:25 p.m. Sandra was arrested moments later and her children were taken into care uninjured.
Police say there is evidence to suggest Giesbrecht wore a wig to disguise her identity.
She has been charged with two counts of abduction and flight from police. She remains in custody.
