Charges Laid in Crash That Killed Winnipeg Woman, 29

RCMP Crest LogoA 29-year-old Winnipeg woman was killed Sunday morning after a two-vehicle crash on PTH 207 just outside of Lorette involving a car and a pickup truck.

RCMP say the woman, and lone driver of the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene at around 5 a.m. All three people in the pickup truck from Winnipeg sustained non-life threatening injuries, including the 18-year-old driver.

Colin Robert Simard, 18, of Winnipeg has been charged with numerous impaired driving offences, as well as three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Simard remains in custody.

The other passengers received medical attention and remain in stable condition.

Police are continuing to investigate.
