Man Lights Hairspray on Fire in Three Winnipeg Robberies

Winnipeg Police CrestWinnipeg police have laid charges after several robberies in the city over the past week.

Police say three robberies occurred on June 25, 26 and on July 1 at a clothing store in the 1300 block of McPhillips Street, a convenience store in the 100 block of Salter Street, and a drug store in 700 block of St. Anne’s Road.

In all three incidents, a man is accused of stealing merchandise and also igniting a canister of hairspray with a lighter in the direction of staff.

In the St. Anne’s Road incident, police say the man kicked a small dog that was outside of the store as he fled.

Police located the suspect a short time later and made an arrest.

Ivan James Roulette, 23, has been charged with three counts of robbery, possession of a weapon, six counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition, and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

He remains in custody.
