Two Men Charged in Separate Sex Assaults on Children

Winnipeg Police CrestPolice have laid charges against a 54-year-old Winnipeg man for alleged sexual assault of a child 14 years ago.

Police say during the summer of 2002, the man had regular contact with a young child who was sexually assaulted on numerous occasions.

The victim reported the assaults to police on June 23, 2016 and police began their investigation.

The man was arrested on July 6 and has been charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and sexual interference.

He was released on a promise to appear.

In a separate incident, a 53-year-old man has been charged with alleged sexual assaults on a 14-year-old girl between March 1 and July 1 of this year.

Police say the accused communicated with the victim through social media and brought her to a home in the 400 block of Furby Street. The teen received cash, prescription drugs, marijuana and alcohol in exchange for sex.

The victim reported the assaults to police on July 5

Eric Gundmandson has been charged with sexual assault, sexual interference, procuring a person under 18 for sex, and possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking.

He remains in custody.
